The authors reflect on the role of the U.S. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in protecting the banking industry from bank runs due to unforeseen financial shocks. They provide a background of the Federal Reserve which was established in 1913 and is in control of the American banking system. They also explore several activities of the Federal Reserve which include the quantitative easing in 2007 that failed to meet its goals. |
