Abstrakt: Despite millions of losses in several sectors of business due to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, many firms have been able to perform better than expected. Sectors that have suffered losses are the hospitality and tourism-related business. Revenues from rooms declined 13 percent and the restaurant industry lost 34 million dollar in sales due to the war crisis. There has been a positive response from the mass media and the real estate industry to the war crisis, despite few losses. Industry analysts have estimated a loss of approximately 150 million dollar in the advertising industry as a result of the war. However, it has also been suggested that recovery from the war crisis has been fast for several business sectors. According to analysts, total estimate of the impact of war on the economy is dependent on the length of the war. INSET: Practicing for emergencies.
