OUCH! Joe Higgins has been on the receiving end of many a stinging putdown in his time but being compared to Joe the Plumber by our Taoiseach will sting. Joseph Wurzelbacher, to give him his Sunday name, was championed by the American right after he exposed Barack Obama as a socialist in the last Presidential election. John McCain brought him along on the stump, declaring: 'We're going to fight for Joe, my friends.' But Joe wasn't really in his corner. He would later say he was the 'lesser of two evils' and criticised him for voting for the bank bailout. Now Joe is standing for the Republicans for the House of Representatives in November.
