The article discusses the basics of congenital heart defects on children. It defines congenital as present at birth, with 1 out of every 100 children has some type of defect. It differentiates between congenital heart disease and heart disease in older adults. Also discussed are how a heart defect is detected in a child, what a heart murmur indicates, prevention and treatment for congenital heart defects and the need for heart catheterization. |
