IRELAND'S female relay swimmers failed in their bid to secure an Olympic place by finishing in the top 12 of yesterday's 4x200m medley at the World Championships in Shanghai. Despite lowering the Irish record by two seconds the quartet of Sycerika McMahon, Melanie Nocher, Clare Dawson and Grainne Murphy's time of 8mins 07.66secs was only enough to place 16th in the heats.
