The article reports on the heavy pressure occurring between Lebanon and Syria due to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik al-Harriri in 2005 which remained unsolved because of the lack of evidence. However, such is denied by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in which he states that his country's relations with Lebanon continues to be strong. Assad also views al-Hariri as the best person to overcome the political crisis in Lebanon over the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL). |
