COHEN--Ira B.,MD. The entire Beth Israel Medical Center family acknowledges with sadness the passing of our dear friend and beloved colleague, Ira B. Cohen, MD, one of the longest serving physicians in the hospital's history. Dr. Cohen's career at Beth Israel began in 1948 and continued until his retirement last year, during which time he held many responsible positions, including tenure as Associate Chairman of the Department of Medicine. He also was a longtime member of the hospital's Medical Board and gave tremendously to Beth Israel in many other capacities. Most importantly, he will be remembered for his extraordinary commitment to his patients, many of whom generously supported Beth Israel in his name. He also was steadfastly committed to medical education. The Ira B. Cohen, MD Award is given annually to the house officer who best demonstrates the care and compassion Dr. Cohen exemplified throughout his career.
