The article focuses on the confidence by Joseph Azrack of Apollo Management LP that his mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) vehicle Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance Inc. will become successful in the REIT mortgage sector. Azrack cited two reasons behind the uneven track record of the sector, one of which is the fact that many of the existing mortgage REIT acquire too much debt to finance their investments. Azrack states that his vehicle will maintain less than 50% leverage and invest only in performing senior real-estate loans. |
