FOR the last few months, I've been getting e-mail messages from Ford public relations, alerting me to the new Fusion Hybrid's excellent fuel mileage and its Facebook campaign for the upcoming Fiesta. But it's tough getting good news out when there's so much desperate news out there. So it doesn't surprise me that Alan Mulally, Ford's chief executive, and Bill Ford, the executive chairman, wanted to get their word out on the same day that President Obama issued an ultimatum to G.M. and Chrysler.
