The article offers definitions of a nonprofit organization. In broad terms, it is an organization in which the revenues generated in excess of expenses are not distributed to individuals or shareholders, as they would in a for-profit business, but are then used to further the organization's mission. It can also be any organization formed with the intent of executing a particular mission rather than to make a profit. The different nonprofit designations are also explained. |
