ENGLAND coach Peter Moores is on the brink of being sacked after captain Kevin Pietersen told friends he will not back down over his threat to quit rather than carry on working with him. Pietersen's determination not to give in means England could even embark on their tour to West Indies later this month under a caretaker coach if last-ditch efforts by Lord's officials to heal the rift between captain and coach prove futile. The split between the pair came to a head last week when Moores failed to support his captain's plea for Michael Vaughan to be included in the 16-man squad for the four-Test series in West Indies England depart on January 21.
