Abstrakt:	The article focuses on Charlotte, North Carolina-based and family-owned department-store chain Belk. The department-store chain, under the management of three grandsons of William Henry Belk, Thomas M. Jr., McKay and John R., has initiated changes to keep up with the competition. These changes include acquisitions of 25 former Parisian stores as well as assets of Migerobe Inc., and consolidation of distribution centers. An overview of the growth strategy of Belk is presented.
