The article reports that the New York State Commission on Local Government Efficiency formed by former Governor Eliot Spitzer conducted public hearings to examine possibilities for consolidation or shared services in government. The report of the commission offered recommendations to ease the pressure on local property taxes. John Clarkson, executive director of the commission, said that progress is being made as the state has approved funding for Local Government Efficiency grants. |
