Abstrakt: RON Sandler's recovery plan must make reassuring reading for Alistair Darling. By his calculations, the £24bn of taxpayer-backed loans will be fully repaid by 2010, the Rock will return to profit in 2011, and the government can off-load it to a private purchaser soon after. The 'shrink and grow' strategy has been stress-tested from Newcastle to the Financial Services Authority's headquarters in Canary Wharf. Sandler reckons the bank will be able to comply with liquidity and capital requirements even if the economy undergoes a severe recession. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
