The article focuses on the effects of the closing of Hotel Pattee on businesses in downtown Perry, Iowa. Owners of downtown stores, including antique stores and art galleries, are cited to have been affected in different ways. A few stores in town have cut back on hours. Businesses that relied on tourists, including a women's clothing store and museum shop located near the hotel have also suffered. Residents have also noticed the significant decline of pedestrian traffic. |
