The article discusses the pension system of Romania. A historical overview of the Romanian government's pension policies is provided from the overthrow of the communist dictatorship in 1989 to the passage of legislation reforming the pension system in 2006. Statistics related to the funding of the system are analyzed and its three-pillared structure explained. |
