The article provides information on the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in the U.S. The FMLA provides employees who work for covered employers with the right to take up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave per year. It allows eligible employees to weather difficult personal situations without giving up their careers. Further, it allows substitution of paid vacation for any part of the leave and the substitution of paid sick time for unpaid leave to address the employee's own illnesses. |
