The author discusses the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) created by New Jersey to complement the federal EITC. According to the author, the state's EITC gives poor families a break on income taxes and sometimes it also provides a refund. The author revealed that the break on income tax does not cover families with an annual income of $20,000. He added that New Jersey families might be saved by the proposal of Governor Jon Corzine, which calls for the state's EITC to match the federal programs in all aspects. |
