Two young lawyers who got into difficulties on a snowboarding trip in the Alps used their Black-Berry to raise the alarm. But instead of contacting the local emergency services in Italy, the trainees got in touch with their City firm in London. They told their bosses there had been a small avalanche on the slopes of Mont Blanc and they were unsure how to get to safety. Keen to help, Linklaters arranged for a helicopter to search for Travis Leon and Nick Higham. But by this time, one had made his way back to the resort of Courmayeur without help.
