This article reports on the potential conflict between banks and hedge fund hotel guests. In 2006, UBS, a Swiss bank based out of Boston, Massachusetts, leased space to young hedge fund traders. UBS courted these hotel guests as a means to allegedly influence the traders into becoming future clients. Regulators are concerned about the relationship between banks and hotel guests, looking at whether or not the banks may be using real estate as a way to entice hedge funds to do business with them. |
