The article presents information on the audience-building strategies of the orchestra "CityMusic Cleveland" in the city of Cleveland. This nonprofit orchestra, with 30 to 35 musicians, smaller than its 90- to 100-member symphony counterpart, delivers professional performances. Beverly Simmons, Ph.D., CityMusic's marketing director and founding board member said that the musicians, ages 21 to late 40s, have performed since they were about 10 years old. CityMusic builds audiences for classical music and the arts by bringing the music to the concertgoer and performing accessible repertoires. |
