This article is a memoir of the author's teenage years in the Texas Panhandle during the mid-1960's. The author describes her poor relations with her parents, her father in particular and details her small rebellions at school while secretly excelling at her studies. She discusses relations between boys and girls in high school and the social codes that had to followed. She refers to two of her high school classmates who fled Texas for Canada to avoid being drafted into the Army. |
