The article discusses the laws related to data protection in the U.S. A new law passed in New York require business owners must notify people when their financial and personal information has been compromised. The companies that fail to do so face a fine up of to $150,000. The U.S. Congress is working on two bills regarding the breach of data. The Personal Data Privacy and Security Act of 2005 called for fines of up to $35,000 a day for companies that do not implement a program to keep customer data private. |
