The article focuses on the increasing demand for part-time or executive programs in business administration, which is forcing business schools in Michigan to become more adaptable and competitive. Stuart Arends, dean of Madonna University's school of business, said the marketplace for the MBA degree is a part-time market. Even prestigious schools are finding that students just do not want to go full time. They are unwilling to give up their jobs or even see their career slow down. At the University of Michigan in Dearborn, Michigan, the typical MBA student was an engineer in the automobile industry, a segment that made up 65 percent of its enrollment. Today, that segment is down to 40 percent. |
