The article reports on the uncertainty over the effect on the U.S. economy of policies proposed or hinted at by President-elect Donald Trump regarding tariffs, deportation of immigrants, deregulation and his administration's relationship with the Federal Reserve as it sets interest rates. According to economists, Trump's tariff proposals could boost prices for consumers and lift inflation. Trump might be able to reduce gas prices only by 15 to 25 percent through deregulation. |
