Abstrakt: Kelly Sexton, the associate vice president for research and innovation partnerships at the University of Michigan, has been recognized for her work in launching the Accelerate Blue Fund, which invests in UM-licensed startups. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. and the Michigan Strategic Fund awarded UM Innovation Partnerships $5 million to establish the Michigan University Innovation Capital Fund and the Michigan University Innovation Capital Consortium. Sexton is co-chairing the consortium, which aims to support the success of portfolio companies and coordinate investment activities with other university-based venture funds. The goal is to invest in over 15 university startup companies in the next 24 months and attract additional funding for these companies. Michigan universities collaborate on research commercialization through programs like MTRAC and the Tech Transfer Talent Network. Outside of work, Sexton is passionate about supporting her three sons in their sporting endeavors and exploring Northern Michigan with her family. [Extracted from the article]
