I like to think of it as Richard Curtis's idea of what a Victorian worker's cottage would look like,' says Kate Watson-Smyth. She's describing her recently renovated townhouse in Crouch End, North London, home to husband Adam, sons Isaac, 22, and Noah, 20, and Enid the cat. In contrast to her previous home, which had expanses of white brick throughout, Watson-Smyth wanted this place to feel warm, rustic and cosy. 'It was a sea of "greige" when we moved in, which made it look and feel cold,' she recalls. 'There isn't an ounce of it left anywhere now.' [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
