The article discusses the declining quality of data and surveys, which affects our ability to objectively measure and understand various aspects of society. The response rates for surveys have significantly decreased over the years, leading to less reliable data. Traditional methods of conducting surveys, such as cold calling households, are being abandoned as people no longer answer their phones. Instead, polling data is now largely obtained from panels of willing respondents.
