IT'S Father's Day on Latimer Crescent, and Beth and Eric (Arabella Weir and Alex Norton) are all set to enjoy lunch at the carvery. Ian and Gordon (Jamie Quinn and Kieran Hodgson) have arranged it as a treat for their parents, but it will come as no surprise that Christine (Elaine C. Smith) has tagged along, managing to wangle an invitation at the start of the episode — in a masterclass in manipulation. True to form, Christine has strong opinions on just how a carvery should be done, and she's not afraid to let everyone know. There have been worrying reports of thinly sliced meat, and she's more than a little concerned that the plate sizes won't meet her expectations. Everyone else, meanwhile, is soon tucking in and enjoying the family get-together. It's the sort of occasion when no parent could resist letting slip some slightly embarassing stories of their offspring's younger days — but when the table talk turns to family trees, Gordon's dad Graham (Alexander Kirk) drops a bombshell. Christine even stops complaining and starts listening. Gordon can't let it go, leading to an even bigger bombshell from his mum (Maggie O'Neill, pictured above with Weir, Norton and Kirk).
