And as more people are diagnosed with this developmental disability, new concerns arise. Autism can create communication and behavior challenges for millions of Americans in the spectrum. The families you're about to meet say those challenges led to tragic outcomes when their autistic sons encounter law enforcement at a moment when there are more questions than ever about racial bias in policing.
