SCOTLAND striker Lawrence Shankland is thought to be edging closer to a move to Hearts. The 26-year-old made the switch from Dundee United to Beerschot in Belgium last year. But his new side were relegated from the top flight at the end of the season, with the ex-Ayr United star scoring just five goals in 26 games. Now Tynecastle boss Robbie Neilson is believed to be ready to seal the player's return to Scotland, with the Gorgie club hoping he can recover the kind form that saw him become one of the nation's most prolific scorers. Shankland, who has scored once in four Scotland appearances, started his career at Queen's Park before moving to Aberdeen, Ayr and then Tannadice. He also had loan spells at St Mirren and Morton. He would join Hearts' list of summer arrivals, which includes Alan Forrest, Kye Rowles, Jorge Grant and Lewis Neilson. Alex Cochrane has also returned to Tynecastle after being on loan from Brighton last term. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
