IRELAND do not have much time to feel sorry for themselves following Saturday's 56-15 Six Nations hammering by the French in Donnybrook. Adam Griggs' side went into last weekend's clash with hopes high after their impressive hevay win in Wales the week before and, although much ofthe prematch focus was on the fact the visitors were semi-pro going up against an amateur side, it was felt Ireland could push them all the way. However, the home side's high error count played into the hands of the French and, given the exposure the game received, it was an opportunity lost. Now they must refocusfor the thirdplace play-off against Italy next Saturday - the match is expected to be moved from Parma to Donnybrook. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
