DAVID MOYES gave his backing to Mike Dean last night after the referee notified police of death threats sent to him and his family. Dean was criticised for sending off Southampton defender Jan Bednarek at Old Trafford last Tuesday and West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek (right) at Fulham on Saturday. Both decisions have since been overturned. The Wirral official later reported death threats, which Merseyside Police are investigating. Dean will not referee this weekend. Moyes had said he was 'embarrassed' for the officials over Soucek's red card.
