Abstrakt: TASHKENT. Oct 19 (Interfax) – Reform in Uzbekistan gives the country to broaden trade and economic relations with Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a narrow-format meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two countries will set up a commission chaired by their prime ministers to address strategic cooperation in projects in key economic sectors and cooperation program between Russia and Uzbekistan will be worth more than $25 billion at the initial stage, Putin said. Russia and Uzbekistan signed more than 785 bilateral agreements and memorandums worth $27.1 billion during the first inter-regional forum of the two countries in Tashkent, the Uzbek Economy Ministry said. Meanwhile, energy cooperation was to the fore in Tashkent, witht the two presidents pushing a symbolic button to signal the start of the project to build the Central Asian state's first nuclear power plant (NPP), which is expected to cost in the region of $11 billion. In addition, Russian Energy Minister Alexander said his country expects to complete the preparation of an intergovernmental agreement on oil supplies to Uzbekistan this year; Gazprom and Uzbekistan signed a production sharing agreement (PSA) on the Dzhel field; the heads of Lukoil and Uzbekneftegaz signed a memorandum of mutual understanding, and Rosgeo and Uzbekneftegaz signed a cooperation agreement on geological exploration.
