Uneasy customers and uneasy employees can do great damage to a mega-merger, so internal and external communications will have to be priorities as the $58 billion deal progresses. With the merger of J.P. Morgan-Bank One 10,000 positions will be cut. The merger, expected to close at midyear, will result in a network of 2,300 retail branches in 17 states.
