Abstrakt: This article focuses on an economic development study published by CEOs for Cities, a national alliance of mayors, corporate leaders, university officials and executive of non-profits in which Chicago, Illinois has received favourable ratings. The study was based on the evaluation of five categories, including such factors as educational levels of the population, diversity and specialties of businesses. Among the top 250 cities in the country, Chicago ranked 44th in per capita income growth between 1990 and 2000, but 128th in population growth, while Bakersfield, California, fifth in population growth, was 246th in income growth.
