Although proposals to let consumers import low-cost prescription drugs directly from Canada and other nations without federal permission lost out in the final version of the Medicare drug bill, backers are getting ready to launch a new campaign in 2004. In addition, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Thomas Daschle has introduced a bill to alter a provision in the Medicare bill requiring Health and Human Services permission prior to reimportation. |
