The article discusses how a biofuels plant in Keaau, Hawaii that is owned by the Pacific Biodiesel Inc. firm became the first U.S.-based biodiesel plant to receive a certification of sustainability from the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance nonprofit organization. Energy conservation and the effort to avoid environmental harm are addressed, along with renewable energy sources and the use of restaurant cooking oils, grease, and macadamia nuts to produce biofuels at Pacific Biodiesel Inc. |
