Abstrakt: A biography of Dr. Walter Semmler, a hydrogeologist, is presented. Semmler was born on March 26, 1903 in Germany and started his mine training in 1920. He is considered as a mine water hydrologist and a teacher. He is recognized as the first user of an artificial tracer to investigate mine water inflows.
