Abstrakt: In uranium mining and milling areas, or in geologically peculiar regions, the soil-gas 222Rn concentrations may vary within orders of magnitude. When applying filtered cups with solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) placed inside, the problem of the saturation effect is encountered. An approach in which both SSNTD and thermoluminescent detectors (TLDs) are placed inside a filtered cup is presented. This combination allows the measured range be expanded in the direction to higher concentrations-up to 10-100 MBq m- 3 for exposure time of one month. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
