Abstrakt:	The article presents a study which examines the phthalate esters as potential contaminants during gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of environmental samples using mass spectrometric (MS) and electron-capture detector (ECD). The study uses a Finnigan-MAT model 9600 gas chromatograph that was connected to a Finnigan-MAT model 4021 computerized mass spectrometer. The study reveals that the GC/ECD and GC/MS analysis could be kept at a minimum.
