Abstrakt: The article presents a research study which evaluates the suitability of some Indian fish species for adoption as standard test subjects for aquatic toxicity test. It mentions that the fish were subjected to acclimation prior to being exposed to phenol, which is the reference toxicant. Results indicate that several Indian fish species including Gambusia affinis, Puntius ticto, and Oryzias melanostigma appers can be considered as test fishes.
