Abstrakt: The article focuses on the study concerning the impacts of surfactants on contents of heme, metallothionein (MT), and hemoproteins and on the activities of heme oxygenase and drug-metabolizing enzymes in the rat liver pretreated with phenobarbital or ß-naphthoflavone (NF). The study used Male Wistar rats. It shows that several metabolites derived from Emulgen 913 may be responsible for the loss of cytochrome P-450 in the liver.
