Abstrakt: The article presents a study which compares the elemental concentrations in the wood of three tree species growing adjacent to an inactive chromium smelter including baldcypress, Southern red oak, and loblolly pine. The study sectioned each increment core for chemical analysis into four segments. Moreover, the study revealed that baldcypress wood samples have higher concentrations of aluminum, silicon, magnesium, sodium, and boron than the oak and pine samples.
