Abstrakt:	The article highlights the major nuclear accidents in the atomic age. It provides a list of nuclear accidents in the world which include the Chernobyl explosion in Soviet Union, chain reaction at Tokaimura reprocessing plant which has exposed 37 workers and the release of 18,000 liters of irradiated water at the Tricastin nuclear facility in France. Also provided is the proposal of the American Nuclear Society for a small modular reactors (SMRs) which power homes but generate nuclear waste.
