The article focuses on the use of biobased fertilizer for the lawn outside the Whitten building of the U.S. Agriculture Department (USDA) in Washington, D.C. A federal buying requirement to prioritize products made from biological or agricultural materials was met by the department by using such fertilizer. The over 100 BioPreferred companies at 2009 Expo of the General Services Administration (GSA) is said to indicate the growing interest in the BioPreferred program. Also mentioned is the finalization of a BioPreferred labeling program by USDA. |
