The article focuses on the development of a 21st-century electricity grid in the U.S. It notes that boosting the U.S. innovation and job creation are some of the benefits of the transformation of the country's outmoded electricity infrastructure. Accordingly, it falls under the platforms of efficiency, reliability and reduced carbon emissions. It also states that producing renewable electricity at a utility scale, developing regional smart grids, and transforming consumer energy consumption at one point of use are the distinct parts of the renewable electricity pipeline that will be consumed. The specific conditions needed in the federal policy changes include planning on an interconnection-wide basis, one-stop certification and siting, and broad cost sharing. |
