Schooling Impacts of Conditional Cash Transfers on Young Children: Evidence from Mexico.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examines the medium-term effects of Oportunidades, a social assistance program, on children who were too young to be eligible for the scholarship program in Mexico. It shows that youngest children were eligible for the nutrient supplements for infants and children under 24 months of age. The study suggests that the program is an important benefits for the education of young children when they became of school age. Moreover, it indicates that oldest group of children were eligible immediately after the initiation of the program for direct scholarship support.
