Abstrakt: The article presents a study on the variation of structural and functional metrics in macrophyte communities within two habitats of eastern Mediterranean coastal lagoons. The study investigates natural versus human effects. It aims to differentiate metric variation caused by human or natural processes and establish an appropriate program for lagoon water quality. Angiosperms of the selected sites were investigated. Results showed that structural metrics are inappropriate as indicators of lagoon water quality changes. Functional metrics can be used to identify shifts of habitat.
