Abstrakt: The article discusses a study on determining the presence of cyanobacterial toxins, particularly microcystin-LR, anatoxin-a and cylindrospermopsin, in various Wisconsin waters using a combination of high performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry. Algal nuisance or bloom conditions were observed in the said natural waters. The study found that a pond had higher levels of anatoxin-a, a potential neurotoxin that has public health significance. It suggested testing for other kinds of cyanotoxins such as lyngbyatoxins and representative saxitoxins.
